Curriculum Vitae
Stefan Posch received his Masters degree in Computer Science (Diplom) and Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Erlangen, Germany, in 1985 and 1989, respectively.
From 1990 to 1991 he held a postdoctoral position at the International Computer Science Institute, Berkeley, California. In 1991 he joined the Applied Computer Science Group at the University of Bielefeld, Germany, and received the venia legendi (Habiliation) in computer science from the Technical Faculty of this University in 1997 and was an assistant professor with this department. Since 1999 he is professor at the department of computer science at the Martin-Luther-University of Halle-Wittenberg.
His primary research work is in the field of computer vision and scene understanding. His current interests include perceptual grouping, stereo vision, 3D reconstruction, and segmentation. Another area of research focuses on the applications of computer vision and pattern analysis to problems in the field of natural science especially in the area of bioinformatics. He published various papers and one book in this field.
Dr. Posch is member of the German Computer Society (GI), the IEEE and of FIFF (German Section of Computer Scientists for Peace and Social Responsibility).
