Current Research Topics and Projects
Current Work
My current research is mainly focused on the analysis of biomedical image data, applying techniques like segmentation with active contours, texture analysis or techniques of pattern classification. In addition, we are currently developing the tool rhizoTrak for handy manual annotation of minirhizotron images. rhizoTrak will in near future be extended with methods for automatic segmentation of the images.

Tools, Libraries, Software
rhizoTrak
rhizoTrak is a software tool for handy manual annotation of root images. It is particularly well-suited for the annotation of time-series images as for example acquired with minirhizotrons.

MiToBo Cell Counter
An ImageJ/Fiji plugin for semi-automatic labeling and counting of spot-like structures and small cells in images. The plugin is based on the popular ImageJ CellCounter plugin by Kurt De Vos and extends its functionality towards improved usability and integration of automatic segmentation algorithms.
